.pst files

Hi All,

Just a quick confirmation I hope. After a system crash in WinXP Pro all
attempts
to rebuild the boot.ini file and get the system up and running has been in
vain.

My client requires a legal document from his system and my only way out is
either
to mount the hard drive or I was thinking of installing a fresh version over
the old
version...

My thoughts are telling me that obviously all files will maintain as long as
I dont
format the drive, but will the .pst files remain intact as well? There are
very
important emails on that laptop that we cant loose...

Many thanks,

Markus

..PST files are just a file like any other.

My preference is to install HD in another PC and copy the files you need
to a flash disk, network, whatever.

You can then open the .pst file from outlook.

I would recommend at least doing a backup of your .pst file to somewhere
safe.
(the .pst file is "normally" found in C:\documents and settings\your
username account here\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst)

install your new outlook
copy over the pst file that you backed up back into the above path.

Good luck
Kind Regards
Charlie
