.pst files (data files)

Despite deleting several years worth of email in my personal files, the .pst
files continue to grow. I have gone through the exercise of compacting the
files, but it has not changed the size one bit. And the deleted files are
still there when I transfer to a new computer. How can I make the .pst files
match what the actual files have in them and be an appropriate size? Thanks!

Firstly a misconception. Unless you are using Microsoft Exchange your pst
file IS where all your CURRENT Outlook data resides so I don't know what you
mean by "making the pst files match what the actual files have in them".
What "actual" files?
Secondly please see my sig. Remember no-one here can see your machine so you
need to give as MUCH detail as possible, including email account type.
Thirdly, if the "deleted" files are re-appearing when you transfer to a new
computer a) WHERE are they reappearing, b) have you REALLY deleted them or
done something else and c) how are you "transferring"?
