When trying to reload a pst file that we saved to backup
before reformatting out drive and reloading the software
we get an error that the pst file is not a personal
folders file. In explorer it shows as a .pst and the file
type is outlook data file. Any ideas on how to fix or
load the file.

Make sure the file isn't marked read-only. If it's on a CD, move it to your
hard drive and remove the read-only attribute.

I'm having the same problem and I've done what you just
said. I even moved the file to a folder on the hard drive
and it still says Not a personal folders file.

Try running the Inbox Repair Tool against your .PST to see if it finds any
errors. Search your drive for a file called scanpst.exe and run it.

running scan.pst it only found the deleted items
folder, witch had nothing in it.....yet total file size on
disk is 49.9M
