PST file on network

I have a PST file from another notebook computer on our network that I
have created a link to (File > Open PST file) on two other
workstations. The problem is that when I open up Outlook on 1 of the
computers and the notebook is not connected to the network then I get
the following dialog. The set of folders could not be opened. The path
specified for the file... is not valid.

Now this happens only on 1 of the computers but not the other.

All computers have Outlook 2000 and Windows XP.

Anyone know which setting to change or how to fix this?

Hi deekaye,

one general information: You can not share a PST file by default in Outlook
(without 3rd party solutions) and a network PST file is not supported by
Microsoft.

If you want to share a PST file have a look on this sites:

Outlook sharing solutions:
http://www.publicshareware.com/public-share-outlook-description.html
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/share.htm

Office Marketplace Outlook messaging tools:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/CE010719621033.aspx

If you want to synchronize a PST file between Notebook and PC have a look on
this sites:
http://www.publicshareware.com/outlook-synchronisation-description.php
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm

Maybe it helps.

If the PC is not connected to the network, naturally Outlook will complain
that it can't reach the PST, since you say it's on a network share.
