Create a new legacy .pst in 2003 then move/copy all of the emails in, then
use the newly created .pst file in the older version.

Ok,
I saved email as export .pst file in 2003 but they were not compatible in
the 2002 version.

How do I export contents or copy to a new pst "made using the Outlook
97/2002 format" as you suggest?

I have not used legacy as 'wowbagger' mentions. What is that?

You'll need to open the pst in outlook 2003 and copy or export the contents
to a new pst made using the Outlook 97/2002 format.

Create a new PST file in the '97-2002' format, then copy (drag-and-drop)
your stuff into that file. (Use right-click drag-and-drop to select
between Copy and Move.)

Pat's suggestion to copy is better than export, since export doesn't transfer
ALL of the Outlook data, but once you create the 97-2002 format PST, you can
select it when you perform the export and it will stay in the old format. You
don't have to create a new PST during the export.

You can try a popular Outlook recovery tool called Advanced Outlook
Repair to repair your PST file. It is a powerful tool to recover
messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft
Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aor/

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe
Good luck!
