I am running Office Home Biz 2007, with Outlook2007, and need to
import my Office 2000 Outlook .pst file.

Never import from a PST. You lose data and it's unncessary.
I have even tried manually replacing the Outlook.pst file in
c:\users\user\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook by
renaming the current .pst to .old, and copying the Office 2000 .pst
into its place.

A good way to guarantee damaging your mail profile.

Create a new mail profile and a new PST. Then open the old OL 2000 PST with
File>Open>Outlook Data File. All of its data should become available to
you. Display your Navigation Pane in the Folder List view so you see all
folders. For each non-default folder in the old PST, right-click and drag
it to the root of the new PST (Outlook Today), choosing Copy. For each
default folder (i.e., the ones Outlook created for you), open the old folder
and select all the items in it with CTRL-A. Right-click and drag the
selection to the corresponding default folder in the new PST, choosing Copy.
For the calendar, you'll have to view the folder in a table view like By
Category before CTRL-A will select all items.

When you're done copying, right-click the root of the old PST and choose
Close to remove it from the mail profile.

I have run in to a similar problem excluding the Office 2007 reference. I
had an error message accessing my Outlook (2000) mailbox. I had downloaded
email, went back to check messages a little later & got an error message
that I needed to repair the mailbox using the Inbox Repair Tool. I ran that
& then created a new profile & was able to restore my calendar, inbox,
contacts, etc. What I'm now finding is that I can now no longer synch my
palm Z22 with the new calendar, contacts, etc.

In reading the description below, is it NOT synching because I did not
right-click to close the old .pst (personal) folders showing in my "folder
list" view within Outlook 2000? The new profile DOES show "Outlook Today"
when I click on the primary folder - "Personal Folders" - in this newly
created list; the "inbox" is active and receives downloaded emails, etc. I
just can't get the "synch" to work.

What happens to the old "personal folders" that you right-click to close?
Is any remaining information there deleted?

Your clarification and information is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Deb

Thank you, Brian. However, you don't note how to create a new mail file, nor
how to add a new PST

Just tried it - it does't work

I don't have a Palm and I don't know how their sync tool works. Perhaps you
need to create a new partnership, or whatever the Palm equivalent is.

Nothing happens to it. It just sits in the Windows folder where it was
created until you elect to do something with it.

Thanks, Brian. I'll check further re: Palm per your suggestion.

Do you happen to know why my Outlook digital signature and/or encryption
functions would have stopped working since this change and how to resolve
that? Could it be related to having 2 personal folder profiles still
visible (the old one that had problems was not "closed" as suggested in
another response you provided to another writer)? IF this can't be
resolved without going to this next option, does uninstalling and
reinstalling Outlook remove all files re: my contacts, emails, etc.? Many
thanks.

Your digital signatures are not stored in Outlook. They're stored in a
Windows cryptopgraphy folder. If you change PCs, you'll have to reinstall
your certs. Since certs are tied to your mail address, that can't have
changed either.

Brian -
Many thanks for the clarification. I'll have to keep working on this.

If following all your previous suggestions doesn't resolve the issues I'm
now having, should I uninstall and reinstall Outlook and, if so, will doing
that also remove all my contacts, emails, etc.? I know some "uninstall"
prompts question uninstalling "all components" and I'm not sure if that
would include contacts, calendar, email, etc.

Thanks again for your time. It's much appreciated.

Uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook is not likely to help.

Can you please advise what will? I've just received another one of these
error messages to run the repair inbox tool when prompted to create an
archive file.

Thanks.

What do you see when you run the Inbox Repair Tool?

Deb

I set up the tool, select the file to be scanned, use the option to make the
backup first, the tool seems to work and it tells me the error is corrected.
Then, when I wrote you this last time, is when I got the same error message
that said there was a problem with the file & prompts to run the repair
inbox tool. I ran the tool again, it did all the steps and reported the
problem was corrected. I've not had a problem since but I've still not been
able to resolve the Palm issue (I'm still working on that) but am hoping to
resolve whatever is going on that is causing this error message from
continuing in Outlook.

I hope that answers your question. I'm not sure what other information you
need...?

Thank you.

Take careful note of everything you do after repairing the PST so that
you'll have a record of the possible causes when the problem reoccurs.
