PST creation location set with GPO, OST should not ! Outl2003

Hai,

I have set a GPO to fix the default location where Outlook 2003 should
place the PST files when a users wants to create one.

This location is on a personel network-share to prevent people creating PST
files on their local harddisk (the local harddisk is not backupped, so the
PST would not be secure in case of a harddisk problem).

Works fine...however...the OST file for the Cached mode is then also placed
on that same location...which I don't want because that's network
overhead....the OST file for Cached mode should remain on the C: drive....

Does anyone know how i can remain using the policy, but keep the OST file
local ?

The policy I used is :
Microsoft Office Outlook 2003/Miscellaneous/PST Settings

Default location for PST files Enabled
Default location for PST files H:\exchange

Note that MS does not support accessing PST files from a network location.
They must be stored locally. You may be able to get this to work, but you
run the risk of data corruption, as well as likely performance problems. I
recommend that you instruct users not to use PST files at all. Store
everything in the mailbox. Note that you can use public folders as
additional storage if you're running into quota/16GB limit problems.

If you really need archiving, look into server-side stuff such as KVS. I
don't like PST files as they are fragile, prone to corruption, and data
takes up more space in the PST than in the mail stores, so you aren't really
saving disk space on the server(s) at all.

Not sure - have you tried a GP group?
