psc 1315 & non-HP ink cartridge

My psc 1315 printer gives me the error message "the black ink
cartridge is not compatible with this printer" although I am using a
generic HP C8727 cartridge. Is there a way to convince the printer to
recognize generic cartridges ?

Take the cartridge back to the supplier, it is probably faulty.
You should also consider using C6656AN which is nearly always a much better
buy, cheaper per page to use.
Also the colour cartridge C6657AN is better value than the #28 cartridge.

But first check your printer spec's. While printers that use the 56/57
cartridges will generally take the 27/28 cartridges often the reverse is not
true.
