Out of the blue it is taking my Internet Explorer several
minutes to load and "Detecting Proxy Settings..." shows in
the status bar...what could have happened to cause this
change and can I fix it???

Try this.
Open IE and click TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS then select the
CONNECTIONS tab. Then click the "LAN Settings" button &
un-check the box named "Automatically detect settings".
Then click OK, APPLY & OK. Then close IE and open it
again. See if this helps. Good luck.

You're not alone. Same thing happened, but at least, now
that problem has disappeared. Now if my search engines
would work, life would be good.
