Detecting proxy settings!

I am using IE 6.0. Every time I try to open the browser in
the status bar a message appear: "Detecting proxy
settings" and then takes a year to open the page, any page
in the internet. It didn't happen before, until a week ago.
What to do? Any help, please!!

search for a file named "hosts" on you computer (usually in windows).
Delete or rename it. It's a trojan.
