Proxy Server Problem

I have tried using various anonymous proxies with Internet Explorer 6.x without success - my correct IP address still shows when I check it on the web. I know the proxies are current, working and anonymous. I have entered them correctly in the Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings window. The same proxy works with Netscape without difficulty. I have SBC DSL service and am using Norton Antivirus 2003 and Zone Alarm Pro 4.5. All software is updated. Hard drive is clean of virii and spyware using a variety of programs, of which only Pest Patrol memory checker loads at boot. Have cleaned cookies and cache without effect.

Any ideas on how to get a proxy to work in Internet Explorer? Is there some other setting somewhere I am overlooking?

Thanks

Stephen

Solved my problem. Needed to put the proxy in the Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Dial-up and Virtual Private Network Settings/DSL Connection Settings/Proxy Server window. Once I added it there as well then everything worked smooth and as expected.

Hope this helps someone else.
