Proxy loses connectivity - HELP

I have a PC setup as a proxy server, and for some reason it keeps losing connection to the web. It connects via a firewall to a broadband connection. Ipconfig of PC below:

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.20
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 213.120.62.10
213.120.62.10
192.168.1.1
Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

It seems to work fine most the time, then just drops connection for a few mins then works ok - can ping a web site when ok can't when not. I'm also getting these errors in the event viewer which I'm unsure about:

Event ID: 100
Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. Return value (1722).

Event ID: 1115
The system failed to register network adapter with settings

Adapter Name : {5585D514-23AD-415E-8FD9-D4552E4D4CD1
Host Name : proxyp
Adapter-specific Domain Suffix : xxxx.co.u
DNS server list
213.120.62.103, 213.120.62.104, 192.168.1.1
Sent update to server : Non
IP Address(es)
192.168.1.2

The reason the DNS update request could not be completed was because of a system problem. You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt. If problems still persist, contact your DNS server or network systems administrator. For specific error code information, see the record data displayed below.

Can anyone advise at all???

Thanks Ro

HI,

Change the configuration of the DNS settings on the NIC:
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 213.120.62.10

213.120.62.10

192.168.1.1

Remove the externals and then have only the internal as the primary DNS server.

This should take care of the issue.

Thanks,
Gary

I have a PC setup as a proxy server, and for some reason it keeps losing connection to the
web. It connects via a firewall to a broadband connection. Ipconfig of PC below:

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.20

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 213.120.62.10

213.120.62.10

192.168.1.1

Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

It seems to work fine most the time, then just drops connection for a few mins then works ok -
can ping a web site when ok can't when not. I'm also getting these errors in the event viewer
which I'm unsure about:

Event ID: 100

Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. Return value (1722).

Event ID: 1115

The system failed to register network adapter with settings

Adapter Name : {5585D514-23AD-415E-8FD9-D4552E4D4CD1

Host Name : proxyp

Adapter-specific Domain Suffix : xxxx.co.u

DNS server list

213.120.62.103, 213.120.62.104, 192.168.1.1

Sent update to server : Non

IP Address(es)

192.168.1.2

The reason the DNS update request could not be completed was because of a system
problem. You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and its settings by
typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt. If problems still persist, contact your
DNS server or network systems administrator. For specific error code information, see the
record data displayed below.
