is there a way to protect worksheets and VBa better than the procection
Excel provides?

Not really, there are little tricks that may help to stop all but the most
determined but at the end of the day most things can be circumvented if
anyone has enough knowledge.

Answering your question...no, excel is probably one of the worst for
security
