hello everyone,

I'm using Office 2K3 and one of my friend sent me a powerpoint presentation
which is password protected and it gives a pop up either to open as read only
or it will not open.

I want to edit some of the slides but neither me nor my friend knows the
password for the same and even when I tried to copy the slides from that PPT
to any new presentation, it is not working.

I want to know how this type of protection can be given on a powerpoint
presentation and how it is possible to remove that without that password.

Is there any macro or any type of tool available for the same

Any type of suggestion will be appreciated ...

A lot of the password tricks that are used, can be got around, but I'm not
going to reveal how as that would be unethical

Thanks Simmons for your kind reference.

But the thing is that I've a ppt file alongwith me and password protected
and I know that its unethical to unprotect that.

But the person who sent me the file forgot the password and is unable to
edit it hence he sent it to me so that I can do something.

Is there anyway out in this case ?????

Miki,

all I can point you to are the 'brute-force' packages that you can find if
you search on google.

These packages through every combination of words/letters/numbers etc to
break their way into the password.

I couldn't find anything by searching for brute force as it is showing
something else !!

Here's your problem Miki

Reading a modify password is fairly easy and lots of expert users will be
able to do it

BUT

Reputable ones won't tell you how and won't do it for you unless you can
prove you have the rights to the presentation.

The others will charge you money!
