Protection from editing and copying

I am an author who publishes on the internet using Word documents. I would
sure like to see a future version of Word have a feature that locks a
document from editing or copying. Folks can print all they want, but I would
like to protect my work. The protection part is easy, but all anyone (today)
has to do is to copy the work into a new document and changes are then
allowed. (PDF files are too large for this to be practical on websites: my
works are complete books.) Surely, there must be a way to embed a person's
work to just one level beyond a simple mouse-click. I would like people to
read it, enjoy it, share it . . . but not change it.

There is no way you can stop someone from copying, not even with .pdf. If
you don't want something copied, then you have to keep it to yourself.

Oh, I know that. It was sent in as a suggestion for future versions of Word.

What you are asking for is technically impossible. If you can see it you can
copy it. It's as simple as that.

So the next version of Word will use Invisible Type <g> Solves all of the
problems with spelling mistakes, bad grammar, numbering etc. etc. No bugs,
it should be a winner.

You forgot cheap if not free. And come with a complete manual. Oh, and
unbreakable/un-lose-able disks with no product code so it can be installed
on any number of computers.
