protection form fields

I need to protect a document but leave out the form fields, which need to be
filled in once the protection is on.
I am using Word 2003.
Thanks!!
 
Start by clicking on the "View" then "Toolbars" menu. There select to view
the "forms" menu bar. You'll have some choices there which make it pretty
easy to complete a protected document. I've not created one from scratch,
but did change an existing one. The "help" text in Word is very helpful.
