Protecting regions of a word document

Hi,

I'm using Word 2002 and can't seem to find a solution to my dilemma. Does
anyone know if there is a way to protect a portion of a word document. I
have some areas of a word template that I want to prevent others from
manipulating the contents and other areas that I would like to allow users
to customize.
