Protecting only one cell

I have a worksheet in which certain cells are automatically updated when I
open it. I would like to prevent one of those cells from having its contents
changed again before I close the worksheet. I'd be grateful if anyone could
explain how to do that.
 
all cells are protected by default.
Unprotect them all by clicking the grey box where the column/ro
numbers meet to select, then format/cells/protection and unchec
"locked".

select the cell you want to protect and use above menu to lock.
save the workbook
