Please help, I am working with Microsoft Word 2002 edition, and I have just a
regular word doc, not a form, that I need to be able to protect only certain
areas of the document and then grant access to certain parts. Is this
possible?

thank you in advance for your help.

Yes. You must insert section breaks between the protected and unprotected
sections and use the Tools | Protect Document task pane the first time
(instead of the lock button on the Forms toolbar). This will give you a
choice of sections to be protected.
