Protecting a validated list cell

I have a validated list for cell in my sheet with part of
the sheet protected. However, a protected sheet allows
the value to be changed (via dropdown selection)but not
deleted - and allows this change to be saved! Any way to
prevent this "protected" value from being changed and
saved?

Hi
if I format this cell as 'locked' and protect the worksheet afterwards
I'm not able to alter this value.
So first check if this cell is formated as locked (Format - Cells -
Protection)
