PROTECTED WORKBOOK LOOSED FUNTION ALITY AFTER OPEN AND EDIT

i HAVE A WORKBOOK WITH PROTECTED cells with funtions, sometimes when I open
and unprotect and make a change in a funtion cell the cell then shows the
funtion as text.....why what's going on... I can copy the funtin and past to
a different cell and it works fin I then have to copy that cell to the cell
that show text and reformat .... any ideas would be appreciated

OK FYI I figured this out

The cell was formatted as text.. if I change the format to general before
making changes to the function then reformat as text everything is fine... if
I leave it formated as text and change the function the function shows as
text...seems like a bug???
