Protected Sheets & Unlocked Cells

If a range of cells are unlocked and the sheet is
protected, is there a way to allow users to bold or
underline the unlocked cells?

Hi
in the protection dialog (depending on your Excel version) check 'allow
cell formating).

Thanks Frank! I'm working in Excel 2000. I was unable to
find this option . . . safe to assume this can not be done
in this version?

You could provide the users with a couple of macros that unprotect the sheet, do
the formatting, and then reprotect the sheet.

Or (really ugly follows):

Provide a few exemplar cells formatted the way you want.

The user can select them, hit the format painter and the paste over the cell
they want.

(or just copy, then paste special|formats.)
