protected mode, UAC and links embedded within outlook

The only way to get embedded links to open from outlook was to disable
User Account Controls (UAC), wheras <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
Features_new_to_Windows_Vista> and other sources indicated that
unselecting "Protected Mode" in IE7 would fix this.

Also, this allowed both printing from IE7 and highlighting text to select
it for copy/paste to notepad.

Surely there's a more elegant solution than to turn off UAC?

What version of Outlook? I haven't seen this with Outlook 2007. There are
settings in Outlook that can disable links but how to change them is version
specific. I can also print and copy/paste from IE7 without disabling UAC.
Try resetting IE7 and Outlook back to the defaults and go from there.
