I am running XP pro on an older HP desktop. I am attempting to encode home
movies into an MPEG-2 to burn to a DVD. The problem is the encode takes
about 24 hours and either one of my two kids always logs on and stops the
process somehow.

I have the machine setup with separate accounts for all and I am the only
administrator. I have a pass-word protected screensaver set up to keep them
form getting into my account, but somehow the process is always getting
stopped

I there a was in XP to set up a process as "don't stop for any reason" and
only the administrator can stop the process.

Create a shortcut with the follow command "%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe
user32.dll,LockWorkStation"

Once double clicked only you or the admin can unlock the computer.

Try to physically secure the computeror take other parental action. My guess is they
are rebooting the computer to be able to logon. Check Event Viewer logs and you may
find evidence of the rebooting. --- Steve

This didn't quite work. It put opened up the Welcome screen and any user
could log on. Is there anyway to completely lock the computer up?
