Protect for forms and no edit same document

Is ther any way to have one section of a document protected for filling in
forms and the other section protected to not allow any edits?

I can get one section to only allow filling in forms but can not get the 2nd
section to be protected completely. So far if I protect section one, section
2 is unprotected.

Thanks for any replies.

What's stopping you protecting section 2? Why is the section break there at
all?

the top part of the page (section 1) has form fields I want users to be able
to fill in. The lower part of the page have other info and check boxes that I
do not want users to be able to change. That would be the reason for the
section break.

I can go tools protect doc .. select protect for filling in forms and then
select only section 1 and that is great for section one but leaves section 2
unprotected. I need section 2 protected for no edits allowed.

I am new to this so I hope I am explaining this correct.

No, you can only have one protection type per document.

But Jezebel is correct: Set up the form fields and then protect the
whole document for forms. Every part of the document that isn't inside
a form field will be protected against editing.

Further to this: When a document has two or more sections, and you
choose forms protection, there's a blue link in the Protect Document
task pane below the protection type dropdown, "Select sections". When
you click that, you get a dialog with a list of the sections, and you
can check which sections to protect. Normally, though, if you don't
change anything the first time you protect the document, all sections
are automatically checked. Visit that dialog to make sure both of your
sections are still checked.

Unless I'm misreading the OP's question, however, he/she wants to protect
part of the document for forms and the rest for formatting (limiting styles,
etc.) or perhaps for some other type of editing restriction. This will not
be possible.
