protect document setting

I while a go i made some templates with "protect document" - is it possible
to see the settings?
(i'm going to make some new templates and can't remember the settings i
choosed)
The password isn't the problem....

OK - i unprotect a document/template.
After that the unprotect window appears to the right side of the document
with 3 optinos: 1. Formatting restrictions 2. Editing restrictions 3 start
enforcement.
The third option is 'greayed' until i choose 1 or 2 BUT i don't see the
settings as they have been piror to my unprotection. The case is that i
have'nt been able to apply (remember to) settings with the same effect as
in my old templates

This is strange. If I create a document, set some protection options, enforce
protection, save and close, and then reopen and unprotect, I'm able to see
the settings previously chosen. Does it make a difference if you open the
template directly (as a document, via the Open dialog box)?

I tried to open the document as a .dot file and as a .doc - no differance.

Is it possible to attach screen dumps in a news groupe - or even better mail
You the template?

OK, I can take a look at the *.dot file. Send it to (e-mail address removed).

Follow-up: I received the document, and it turned out to be protected for
forms (with one section unprotected).

As the OP explained, the Restrict Formatting and Editing task pane did not
reveal which protection options were chosen; the "Editing restrictions" box
was simply un-checked. With nonprinting marks displayed, I could tell that
there were two protected and one unprotected section in the document (I also
verified the forms protection by looking at the ProtectionType property in
VBA).

When I checked "Editing restrictions," and then chose "Filling in forms" I
was able to click "Select sections"; the status of each section then
displayed correctly.
