Prompt to update style

Good day,

Using Word 2003, Windows XP. In Tools>Options, I checked the Prompt to
update style option. But, whatever I do to any of the styles in my document,
I never get prompted. However, I used to, like, not so long ago.

Can anyone enlighten me on this?

You get the prompt only when you have modified the style and then reselect
it in the Style dropdown (or, presumably, the Styles & Formatting task
pane). You can also update the style (after modifying a paragraph) by
clicking the arrow beside the style name in the Styles & Formatting task
pane and choosing Update to Match Selection.
