proliant ML330 power supply

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post but someone will know the answer
for sure!
I have a Compaq Proliant ML330 (Server) (UK) machine and the power supply
has failed. They are very hard to get and I am desperate for one. Does
anyone know where I can get one in the UK. It looks like a normal
powersupply but a lot heavier and with an extra double 4 pin plug two of
which seem to be wired into each other. This one is a Litean model no.
PS-5032-2V1, Compaq Spares no. 216108-001

Is this what I need?

"PS I thought of replacing it with a generic PSU, but in addition to the
20 pin mobo connector, it also has another 10 pin mobo connector that
seems to have no purpose except to ensure that you buy a compaq replacement..."

There are several different versions of the ML330, judging by the HP web site.
I could easily find the wrong pictures for it.

The Liteon supply. I can see a 2x5 with a green jumper wire shorting two of the pins.

One thing that is interesting, is the motherboard has a 20 pin connector. The
second connector must go somewhere else. This is a single processor motherboard.

OK, this one is an ML330 G2. A dual processor motherboard. This has the 2x5 next
to the main connector. The green jumper on the 2x5, is probably how the motherboard
figures out the aux connector is in place, and it is safe to start. Maybe the
aux powers both processors, or maybe it only powers the VRM on the second
processor ?

Knowing what is printed on the side of the Liteon, in terms of ratings,
helps explain the function. As does the color of the wires in the aux
harness. For example, if the unit had a 5V @ 50A rating and a puny
12V rating, maybe you'd suspect the processors ran from the +5V rail
Then, if there were 5V color coded wires on the aux connector, that
would explain the function (extra current carrying capacity).

So far, I don't see evidence the Liteon PS-5032-2V1 is a redundant.

So what evidence is there, that the Ebuyer one is even close ?

If this is a production server, you'd be crazy to screw around with
it. Migrate off of it, and fix it "off line". That way, you can afford
for HP to come through with a replacement in a couple weeks. I see
stuff like "pulls" and "refurbs" for sale, but who knows, maybe
such a replacement would blow up the box.

Another alternative is to find a used ML330. If you pick an exact
duplicate, maybe you'll have some other spare parts for the future.

Thanks for the reply Richard, that one on ebuyer is only a normal ATX
supply, the one that I need has the extra 10 pin connector on it. I think I
will wait for HP to get me one. It is about a week.

You are right if you think you are asking in the WRONG place. Your
question has NOTHING to do with OS and it out of place here.

Ask elsewhere.
