Projector will not show what monitor is showing

Please help!!! I am trying to get a 8000LCD Projector to
project from my Acer travelMate 220. I have the VGA PC
cord set up in the monitor spot for both the computer and
the projector, but it is not working. The message that I
get is "No imput detected" from the projector.

Can anyone help or direct me to someone who can help?

Check the screen resoultion and reresh rate, many projectors can not go above 800x600 60 Hz.

Many laptops control this feature from the BIOS via a key sequence. Look
for a picture of the monitors on a key on or near the F key row. Hold
down the Fn key and press this key with the picture of the monitor on
it. The key toggles between laptop video, projector video, or both.

Your system may have a video display control panel that shows two
separate displays and allows you to select "mirror mode" or independent
display mode. In any event, all details are in your laptop user manual.
