projection vidoes

I have a new notebook with XP Home Edition that I am trying to connect with
an In Focus LP 70(brand name) projection video. I can't seem to make it
work. I have adjusted my video display to expand to external monitor but all
I get is my screen saver from Windows screen with no icons. It doesn't
project any programs. When I hook it up to my old notebook with Windows 98,
it works immediately. Is this an XP Home Edition problem or a hardware
issue???

Have you tried the hardware swap your laptop probably has? Usually Fn+F8 or
something.
