Projecting Slides (correct size)

I am attempting to use a projector to project slides at church. We would like
to locate the projector about 40-50 feet away from the screen, however we are
not able to project a small enough picture to fit the size of screen that we
have (approx. 6 feet x 8 feet). We have used the projector front lens setting
and the menu picture size option to obtain the smallest possible display, we
have set the computer resolution to the smallest setting (800 x 600) and we
have set the Microsoft Power Point presentation set-up to the smallest
resolution setting (640 x 480), but we are still off by approx. 1 foot on
either side of the screen. Is there something more we can do that we are not
aware of? Lens attachments? Software upgrade for the projector? Software
upgrade for power point?

It's nothing to do with resolution, what you need is a different lens on
the projector, at a rough guess from your measurements you need a
4.1-5.7:1 zoom but will vary slightly depending on your model of
projector.

Jamie,

you need either

- a different lens
- or move the projector forward
- get a bigger screen

Some projectors have an in-built way of re-sizing the image (either within
scale, or just the x or y sizes).

See your projector manual and find the remote control for it
