Project ideas for a school-aged student to use exploring Access

My son is a very bright 2nd grader, who is captivated by computers. He's
taught himself to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint, simply by exploring them
and using them to do 'projects' that interest him--for example, making a
PowerPoint presentation about activities to do over vacation. For those
programs, which I use in my work, I was able to help him figure out an idea
to use in his explorations. Now he's interested in Access, which I don't know
at all, and his efforts to read about it have only yielded very business
oriented uses, which he can't emulate. Since I don't use the program, I've
also been unable to come up with any ideas for projects he can do that will
enable him to explore the program.

Do any of you who know access have any ideas of ways a 2nd grader can use
Access? Either projects or sources of information about this (a web site
about teaching kids computer applications, for example). I want to
encourage his interests, but need to find something he can use it for.

When she was a first grader, my younger daughter asked my help in
setting up a database to keep track of her chores (and when they should
be done) and her "stuff" -- things she likes (e.g., "my teddy bear") and
where they belong (e.g, "in my bed").

If he likes sports he could track his teams stats.
He could do a house inventory as a way to help you.
He could also track his different projects he has done and what programs
they were done in.
Keep him interested.

couldn't resist.. <g>)
