Programs running in background

Good morning!

Three days ago, my roommate went to a website and it downloaded
several adware programs to my computer. I have uninstalled them,
deleted them and done everything I know to do to get them off my hard
drive, but there are still 6 programs running in the background from
that download that I cannot get rid of. I have ran "Ad-Aware" and
deleted all items it found, ran Norton Anti-Virus (it's up to date)
but it found no infections. Clicking ctrl-alt-del and bringing up the
Task Manager, I've tried stopping them that way, but every time, they
stop and then come right back into the list. I did a hard drive
search for all six .exe files and my computer cannot find them
anywhere. The files are: dml70cut.exe, xlip4f.exe, xxfey.exe,
kkyqfy.exe, khcxyng.exe and phyy2x9e.exe. These six programs use up
resources like you wouldn't believe and my computer runs extremely
slow! Please help if you can so I can get these things out of my
computer!

Thank you!

Clint

Hi

Try the following two programs as well:

Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

If you uninstalled them, what was left to delete?

I have a Ad-Aware and Spybot installed and I don't seem to have any of
those programs.

I suspect you may have a virus - worm problem.

Obviously Joseph you have never installed or unistalled any spyware\adware. I suggest you take a look in your registry and then tell us if you can ID program fragments or installers that use strictly a number and letter combination ID. Not likely. Even though you may think that you have uninstalled adware\spyware there may still be an installer that will reinstall the main program if and when it is deleted. Excellent free programs that can help are. Spybot Search and Destroy, AdAware, SpywareBlaster,SpywareGuard, and Hijack This. Some of them take a little time to learn to use but certainly are worth every minute you spend. {:~)

More info about parasites:
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

Download the utility CWshredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Unzip - close *all* instances of IE & OE, hit the executable and
follow
the prompts.

You can also download Hijack This from here:

http://www.mjc1.com/files/merijn/hijackthis.exe

Go here:
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

For instructions on how to use it; you have to post the log it
produces so experts tell you what is good and what is malware

Try downloading, installing and updating the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

Ad-aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Spybot S&D
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download

If these don't correct the problem, then get yourself a copy of
BHODemon, available at
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm .

It does not need installing - simply unzip and run the EXE program. It
is easy to use. It will find the hijackware DLL files, and give you
the ability to disable them.

Hope this helps.
