Recently our computer has slowed tremedously. There must
be a way to find out what programs automatically begin
running (in the back ground) when you boot the computer.
I know I can look at task manager to see what is running,
but not being a tech person, I have a hard time
deciphering the abbreviations for the programs.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi

From Start>Run type

msconfig

then click on the startup tab.

Looks like you have some spyware or adware on your
computer. Type "spyware" into www.google.com and choose
any of the products to install. Ad-Aware 6.0 is free and
good. some of the others are free to detect but if you
try to clean they want a small amount of money. Worth it
if you use the internet a lot or have kids that do. Very
easy to get infected these days even if you have anti
virus software.
