Lately, when I receive a picture as a .jpg file as an email attachment, when
I try to open it, I get the response that no program is associated with that
file type. I can save the file, then open it normally with my photo
program. Why is this extra step necessary, and how can I fix it?

Click Start, then Help, then look for help on Associate. There is a lot of
help in Windows Help!

Save the .jpg file to your hard disk. Right-click on it in Windows
Explorer. Select Open With. Pick whatever program you want to use to
view JPEG files. Remember to select the checkbox to remember your
selection. Thereafter that program gets used to open JPEG files.
