The list of my installed programs in the "Programs and Features" section of
Control Panel is messed up. Please have a look at this screen shot if you
don't know what I mean.

As you can see in the screen shot, the icons are all messed up and its
showing some programs that its not supposed to show. For example instead of
showing just Microsoft Office 2007 its showing all the programs of Office
2007 like Access, Excel, Groove and all that. Also all of them have the same
icon.

It was working fine recently. I don't know why its messed up now. Is there
any way I can fix this? Like rebuilding the list of installed programs or
something like that.

Unfortunately I don't use system restore. It never works for me. In windows
xp whenever i tried to restore my system the restoration fails. So I have it
disabled even in Vista to save some disk space.

Any other solution?

Not offhand - is this a annoyance or are you stopped from doing something?
Maybe a workaround to whatever you are trying to do?

What do you want to achieve?

I want to uninstall programs. LOL! I know I can do that using the program
uninstallers. But I also want the "Programs and Features" to function
correctly. I forgot to mention that some programs were missing from that list
and you can't see the "Uninstall" button on most of the items on that list.

I don't want a workaround, I just want it to function properly.

OK. We will need to dig deeper then.

What is the history of your machine and the current Vista install?

History? Its a new PC. Less than a month old. Its Windows Vista Ultimate 32
bit.

Isn't there any way to fix this problem? :(

I found a similar article but its about Windows XP.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/266668

But I see that the same registry keys are present in Vista too. But I am not
able to change one of them. It says that I don't have permission. Oh, and
the regsvr32 is not working either. It gives the message 'The module
"appwiz.cpl" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
Make sure that...'. It shows that message with all .dll files i have tried. :(

So what could be the problem? I upgraded my Nero 7 Premium day before
yesterday. Is it possible that the Nero installer messed it up? Cause there
is an entry in that list called "neroxml" and two "Nero 7 Premium" entries.
One works and the other one doesnt.

I already tried that yesterday. It didn't change a thing. I don't think any
system files are damaged. Probably some registry entries that are messed up.
:(
