I am completely new to VISTA and I have encountered an orror in OUTLOOK. I
keep getting a message informing that a programme is attempting to access
email address information stored in OUTLOOK. It also advises that verify that
my anti-virus software is up to date.
I have McAfee Security Centre and this is all up to date.
Can anyone assist with this problem?

It is McAfee AV that is warning you that a programme is trying to access
Outlook, I have not used McAfee for some time but you need to access the log
to see which programme is attempting access, it may be a legit programme
which you have not told McAffee to allow or it is spyware, virus, whatever.
Ensure that your AV is auto downloading updates.

I have done what you advised and I note in the log that 'realtime virus
protection was disabled' - I have now enabled this.
I also have another log report which states that Systemguards have allowed a
one time changed to your computer? I don't know what this refers to, so I
have left this for the time being to see if enabling the realtime virus
protection resolves the problem.
Thanks for the assistance

Remove3 the MacAfee AV. It is the one causing your issue. Uninstall it as per their uninstall instructions as so it will uninstall properly. Once done the re-install it WITHOUT the email integration (scanning of incoming and outgoing emails)
You will still be protected with the resident MacAfee
