Programmatically retrieving group policy settings?

Is there a way to retrieve group policy settings on Windows 2000 [by
either programming, or command-line tool]??? thank you

There is nothing like that publicly available because GP settings are not
exposed via any API set. My company, SDM Software, is currently beta testing
a mechanism for scripting GP settings, but it is not a free solution.
