Program to big to open?

Hi,
I am trying to open an .exe file. A black dos box pops up and says "Program
is too big to fit in memory".. Never had this happen before. The file size I
am trying to open is 238,446kb. I have 256k ram, an almost empty 80 gig hd,
amd 2500+, and xp pro. Anyone help open my exe file?
Thanks

I hope you mean that you have 256Meg ram, not 256K. But all that is not
available for use. You sure don't have room to load a 238Meg program.

You need to buy more memory.

A Windows program doesn't fail to open because not enough RAM is
installed. The page file will be used to supply as much virtual
memory as needed.

Adding more RAM can improve performance, if it removes some or
all of the need to use the page file, but it's not the difference
between a program running or not.

The program has got corrupted, or has somehow has a DOS shortcut made to
it, so it is being seen as a DOS program - and is *way* too big for
that. Actually 238 MB would be enormous for a Windows program. So I
think you need to get a new copy, and rename that file for the moment
while you work out what it really is.
