Program startup won't go away

I installed Works Suite 2002 on my computer. An .exe file, WkDetect, keep
appearing in my msconfig. I go into the regedit and delete it and it
reappear every time I start Word or Works. This file is not present on my
computer. How can I keep this file off my msconfig?

WKDetect.exe is part of Microsoft Works. The process automatically checks for new updates when you are online. If you do not want Works to automatically check for new updates when you are online, open Works and go through its menus until you find that option, then turn it off.
