Program startup issues after deployment of XP SP2

Since installing XP SP2 I've found that certain programs do not start
successfully and/or display as icons in the system tray. The relevant
programs include:

XP Volume Control - doesn't appear in system tray at startup on almost all
start ups. Can get it there by going into control panel, removeing and then
re-applying the option to display the icon.

Norton Password Manager - an option in NortonSystem works 2004. The
password manager starts and works, but the icon doesn't apper

Logitech iTouch - the interface program for my wireless keyboard and mouse.
This almost never starts and I have to run the program manually after a
boot. Then it appears and works fine.

I've tried to remove and reinstall each of these apps. and even have
reploaded XP with a drive reformat (I thought the problem may have been
linked to running the Beta versions of SP2. I suspected that Systemworks
was the problem, but the problem persists if I uninstall it. After one of
these actions is taken, everything will start successfulyy for a couple of
system starts, but then the problem returns. Any ideas on causes or
troubleshooting steps. It's not a big deal but it is annoying.

As indicated, the problem was that I had installed the UPnP User Interface
under Windows Network Options. I removed that and the problem disappeared.

Thanks.

Sting,

thanks for reporting back.

This problem is unpleasant, glad this one solution worked for
you. It doesn't work for those who need UPnP.
