Whenever I try to install a new program from a CD, I get
an error saying that the .cab file cannot be found. I
have to copy all my new program CD's to my hard drive and
do the installation from there. This problem did not
exist when I first installed Windows XP Professional but
developed later. Any suggestions?

Turn DMA off when installing programs if you get the
problem, there was a article about this with W98 as I
recall, it is a timing issue with the DMA reads being too
fast and the newer faster CD drives make it worse.
