Program Installation Issue

I am doing a clean install of Windows XP and all other programs. Partitioned
& formatted drive and instilled XP SP2, did all updates from MS. AV is
turned off.

Everything seems to be ok, however, when I attempt to install Photoshop 7, I
double click on "setup.exe". The hourglass comes up momentarily, but then
nothing happens. When I bring up Task Manager, "setup.exe", it is listed as
one of the running processes.

I tried the Adobe CD on another computer & it loads without issue, so I
don't believe that's the problem. Seems to be a Windows issue not Photoshop.

Any thoughts as to how to correct?

Thanks,

The problem could also be a CD drive issue since this one
might not happen to like this particular Photoshop 7 disc.
Try copying the disc to the hard drive and the the install
setup from its HD location.

Thanks for the suggestion, however, it still doesn't work. Any other ideas?

Standard trick since computers do get bogged down with
unflushed memory items, especially from poorly-written
setup programs. Turn off computer and reboot. Now try
the Photoshop 7 installation. And IIRC, Photoshop 7 is
pretty bulky with plenty of overlays and sub-programs,
and it is intrinsically tricky to install.
