Hi,

Turn off the option to highlight newly installed programs. Settings/Taskbar
& Start Menu/Start Menu tab/customize/advanced tab.

This must be a feature for the standard xp menu. I use Classic style and no
such feature exists in it. I followed path given. No big deal--unless you
want this.

Hi Malvern,

If you use personalized menus in the classic style you can get the same
effect.

Hi,

I use classic menu, so I think in those terms. For the XP-style menu, click
start/control panel/"start menu and taskbar" instead, or use the method you
mentioned.
