Program Freezes When Saving

Hi. I am having trouble with both MS Word and MS Excel, I
am using Windows XP Professional Edition as an operating
system. Every time I try to save my file, the program
freezes. I can CTRL + ALT + DEL and then End Task; When I
return to the program, the file is in AutoRecover, but I
cannot save. Can anyone help me? If so, please email me
