I am trying to install a game file on my new computer which is running
Windows Vista. The previous computer I had was running XP and the same game
installed without any problem. When I run the INSTALL.EXE file on the new
computer, all goes well until the end of the installation when I inevitably
get the message, "Cannot find PROGMAN.EXE"

Does anyone have any solutions for getting the installation to complete
successfully?

You absolutely CANNOT do it in Vista. You have to install the game from
either original CD/DVD or a zip file.

It also must be Vista compatible which is not given.

If this game requires progman.exe, then it is designed for Windows 3.x or
95..

In Xp there is a progman.exe, but only for compatibility reasons, so the app
thinks it's running on 3.x

With SP2 Microsoft has disabled that progman.exe can be executed like before
in XP SP1.

And consequently in Vista progman has been removed. No wonder.
