Profile problem

Hi

I have a problem at a customer. They have a Windows 2003 Server and some
client computers which are running Windows 2000 Pro. and are all members of
the domain.

Suddenly on one of the computers a new User profile was created. When I look
in C:\Documents And Settings their is a Username and a Username.Domainname,
where the Username.Domainname is the new profile.
I have then renamed The Username.Domainname to something different and
renamed Username to Username.Domainname and everything is now working. But
why the sudden creation of a new user???

I hope it makes sense!

Best regards

We have run into this same issue. we are running windows 2000/XP workstations
and authenticating to a novell server with about 80 users. at first I thought
it was a novell issue. this has happened about 5 times in the past 6 months.
this only seems to happen to the win2k clients.

what happens is the user logs on and they have a new profile with the
default settings in the documents and settings directory there is a new
profile named username.computername. we have made sure that the user still
has full access to their original profile directory and we have followed
KB-314045

is ther eany way to stop this from happening?

Hi Dan

I have actually seen then problem once more and again it was on a W2K
machine. I haven't been able to find a solution but I have changed the user
profile so that it's a roaming profile hoping that it will solve the problem.
