Profile Adj's

I am running XP Pro, and I would like to
remove the option to run certain programs.
(exspecially Internet Explorer)

Question: Is there a way to disable this by the
profile? If so how?

TIA -Randy-

I have seen both replies and now the Grp
Editor. Any step by step documents? I need
to turn the Internet off for a profile.

That is a busy screen.

You answer like a typical short answer
MVP. I did review your URL and @ no point
did that provide detail ON DISABLING!! the
Internet Explorer or specific programs.
It gave some info like starting the editor
and an example even. or maybe if you know
where the text is? copying and pasting
it into a reply? Maybe you miss read my
orginal post. If I was asking for URL's that
discribed..... you did great!!

It is not the number of replies that you can
send out.... It how good are you @ the ones you
do reply too !! Before you start commenting on
looking "close enough" maybe you should begin
look @ yourself first.

I wasn't commenting and I'm sorry you took it that way. However I see how
you could have gotten that impression from my response and I apologize. I
thought you missed the link.

As to the rest, if you check my posts around these boards, for the most
part, I post step by step instructions. In the case of Group Policy Editor,
a little education is required to work with it and that Knowledge Base
Article does a better job of giving an overview and explaining the
procedures than I could or have room for here. Many users that I have
directed to that article have done quite well with it for exactly the kind
of procedure you are attempting. There are implications for everything you
do in the policy editor which is why I thought and still think the article
is a good primer and good jumping off point.

For a simpler approach, there are third party applications with which you
can accomplish this and not as risky as Group Policy Editor, NetNanny for
example, www.netnanny.com.

Again, I apologize for my seemingly flip response, that was not my intent.

Could you alaberate on how to turn off IE
for a given Profile. Been all over the
suggested gpedit.msc and am having trouble
getting there. The settings that I am changing
are happening to the current profile (admin)
Profile I am trying to change is a "limited"
profile. Still looking for help here??

It appears that gpedit.msc is for all users
including admin. Looking for just all but
the admin user to not have access to IE
Please advise and thanks.
