Product Key Problem

I have reinstalled XP Home. Things are almost fine but.....If I try to open a
word document (old or new) I am asked for the product key. I have copied it
in from the Certificate of AUTHENTICITY several times and get the message
"not a valid Product key". I have an original OEM product. Any ideas anyone?

Don;
Are you using the COA for Windows or Word?
They are different and not interchangeable.
The Product Key you need is affixed to the package the Word CD was stored.

Otherwise look very closely, O-0, B-8, S-5 and others look alike.
Have someone else try, sometimes another set of eyes and fingers can get it
right.

What is needed is the Product Key for Microsoft Office or Microsoft
Word if you purchased Word separately or as part of Microsoft Works.

Your Microsoft Windows XP Product Key will not work for this purpose.

Good luck

Hi JJ,
you are right, I was putting in the wrong COA number. I found the other in
that box under the stairs where it has been for three years. Thanks.

Hi Jaymon,
I tried Belarc which listed all my other Product keys except for Word. I
eventually found the original packaging.
Thanks
