Have you tried installing the software under the
administrator account?

Hi,

Which are you having trouble with, the WinXP Product Key or your MS Office
Product Key? They are distinctly different things.

Which Product Key are you entering, the Windows Product Key from
the side of the computer, or the Office Product Key from the Office
CD's packaging? Naturally, the Windows Product Key won't work to
install Office.

Make sure you are entering the product key on the orange sticker on the
jewel case, inside the CD wallet, or on the CD sleeve, or from the
sticker for OEM versions that are meant to get stuck on the computer.
Do not enter the stock number near a bunch of vertical bars. Also make
sure you are entering the correct values. O (oh) and 0 (zero) look
similar as do "5" and "S".

Hmm, you coul try making sure of the usual things, such as
having someone read it out to you as you enter it in,
making sure the caps lock is off/on as you require, making
sure the right letters are capitals etc, etc.

Caps is not an issue in Office or Windows, at least not the many
versions of both I have tested this on.

Which product key are you using. There is one for XP which is the the
number on the sticker attached to the side of the computer case or on
the bottom if it's a laptop. and a separate product key for MS Office.
This key would be on a sticker attached to the MS Office CD case.

If it is Powerpoint or Word telling you, then the number needed is the
one for Office, *not* the one for Windows.

Load Word, cancel the warning and go to Help - About Word. Note The
Product ID number there, Then go to its Help - Activate Product (be on
the net first) and if asked for a number that is the one to use

Have you recently installed XP Service Pack 2? I did and now I can't install
Office 2003 SBE. I get the same "invalid product key" error message. And I
bought the software yesterday. I know that this isn't a solution, but I do
not think that your entry of the key is the problem.

:

Are you using the Office product key and not Windows's COA key?
